A judging seat, a finalist spot and a whole lot of heart
There’s something pretty special about watching the low tox movement grow and knowing we’ve played a small but meaningful part in it.
This year, I was invited to join the judging panel for the Clean + Conscious Awards, a program that celebrates products that are safer, kinder and more sustainable for both people and the planet. It’s an honour I don’t take lightly, and in fact, this marks my sixth year as a judge. Year after year, I’m reminded just how important this work is, and how committed I am to supporting products and businesses that truly raise the bar for conscious living.
And in a lovely full-circle moment, two of our very own products were named finalists too:
- The Low Tox Project Stainless Steel Canister 2500ml
- The Low Tox Project Stainless Steel Container with Silicone Vent 1600ml
Being recognised alongside so many thoughtful, innovative brands is something we’re genuinely proud of. Because while stainless steel might not be the flashiest material on the shelf, we believe it’s one of the most important. Durable, endlessly reusable, and free from coatings or questionable chemicals – it’s the kind of swap that can make a lasting difference, quietly.
Why the Clean + Conscious Awards matter
These awards aren’t about marketing hype. They’re about integrity.
Each product goes through a careful ingredient review before reaching the finals, followed by hands-on testing by a dedicated panel of judges. Using thoughtful criteria and real-world trials, they look at how well a product performs, how safe it really is, and whether it truly lives up to its claims.
And before you ask – no… I'm never a judge in my own category ? With over 80 panellists and hundreds of products entered each year, each of us focuses on a specific area to keep things fair, thorough, and independent.
This isn’t a checkbox exercise. It’s about shifting the default choice. About asking: does this product actually help someone live a little better? Will it hold up? Will it reduce waste or exposure in a meaningful way?
It’s a lens we bring to The Low Tox Project with every new product release, and it’s what fuels our commitment to honest products that do what they say, without the fluff.
From kitchen benches to panel seats
If you’ve been around for a while, you’ll know The Low Tox Project didn’t start with a sleek product line or polished brand.
It started with one person (me ?) searching for better alternatives.
When my young son began reacting to common ingredients and environmental triggers, I did what so many of us do – I jumped on Google, joined Facebook groups and stayed up at night to read labels. But I realised how much of a gap there was in this space.
I created a space for others to share their stories too. A space that has grown into a 14,000+ member community, and eventually, into the product range you see today.
Fast forward to now, and I’ve been invited once again to take a judging seat for one of Australia’s most respected awards in the low tox space. It’s surreal. It’s humbling. And it’s a reminder of what’s possible when you stay true to your values, trust that small changes add up, and back a network of like-minded people working to make things better for both people and planet.

Thanks for being part of this with us
Whether you’ve been with us since the early Facebook days or you’ve just found us through a slice recipe, we’re so glad you’re here.
These awards are lovely, but it’s your trust that means the most. Every time you choose one of our containers, trays or cups, you’re casting a vote for a different kind of industry. One that values people over profit, simplicity over spin, and progress over perfection.
The Clean + Conscious Awards hold a special place in my heart, too. They were created to shine a light on brands working to make safer, kinder, and more sustainable products accessible to everyone, and they do so with integrity and transparency. I’ve been lucky enough to get to know Emily, their founder, over the years, and I genuinely respect her commitment to conscious living and community. Being involved in these awards, both as a judge and a finalist, feels like standing shoulder to shoulder with others who want to see meaningful change.
We’re proud to be a finalist. Proud to be judging. And proud to be on this journey with you.
